A wild meadow comes to life through layers of botanical texture, color and movement.
The wing shaped sterling silver castings preserve delicate plants gathered from the landscape. A lupine flower bud and goldenrod are featured on one earring while late summer sage and goldenrod are captured on the other. Each botanical casting is held by tiny 14k gold prongs, reminiscent of flower petals closing at night.
Below, an intentionally asymmetrical gathering of stones and metals tells the rest of the story. Tourmaline evokes slender plant stems. Kyanite, aquamarine, green garnet and a green diamond carry the shifting blues and greens of the meadow, with mica and diamond adding the sparkle of minerals on the ground. A freshwater pearl becomes a smooth pebble, gold fill beads recall seed pods and a textured piece of 14k gold suggests a rough stone warmed by the sun. Chain falls from one earring like drizzling rain.
The elongated botanical castings take their name from their resemblance to butterfly wings, adding another quiet presence from the meadow to the composition.
